RK Royal Kludge L98 Keyboard Youtube reviews

@BiboyHaranero REVIEW---A layout we’ve always wanted!

"This keyboard isn’t really a 75% like you might think, it's actually more like a 90% layout. What's cool is they put the numpad on the left side, which frees up a lot more space on the right for your mouse. That's great if you play FPS games. I tested the RKL98 in gaming and honestly, it was really good, giving me plenty of room to move my mouse. Plus, it still keeps most of the full keys, so it's really practical."

"When it comes to extras, you actually get a lot in the box. There's a keycap and switch puller combo, some extra switches, a prying tool, and even a replacement knob keycap. It also comes with a PT dust cover, which helps keep it clean when you're not using it. Honestly, for the price, that's a solid set of stuff, really good value."

"The keycaps are pretty solid too, they're thick PBT double-shot, so they're durable and won't wear out easily. They've got a slightly low-profile Cherry shape, which feels nice to type on. As for the sound, it's got that clean, clacky vibe. When paired with the flex-cut PC plate, it actually sounds really nice. *there's a sound test around the 3:45 mark if you wanna hear it for yourself."

"Build quality is also on point. The keyboard weighs around 1.1 kg, so it’s got some nice heft to it. It doesn’t feel plasticky at all. With the rubber feet and the two-stage kick-up stands, it stays stable on your desk and doesn't slide around. Overall, it just feels super sturdy and well-built."

@Samuel Tan REVIEW---Best Budget Southpaw Keyboard

"When it comes to typing feel, the L98 really shines. It uses Royal Kludge's own Cream linear switches that come pre-lubed out of the box, giving a really smooth and “creamy” sound signature. The typing experience feels soft and satisfying, and they even added some sound dampening foam specifically under the spacebar to reduce that typical wire rattling. These little details make a noticeable difference in how nice it sounds and feels to type on."

"The internal build quality and sound dampening are also top-notch. There are five layers of different sound dampening materials packed inside—foam, silicone, PET, PORON, and a switch pad—all working together to keep noise down. Plus, the keyboard uses a flexible polycarbonate plate combined with a gasket mount design, which gives the typing a softer, more cushioned feel. It’s a really comfy setup that balances softness with a bit of bounce."

"Battery life is impressive too. With a huge 8000mAh battery inside, you can get up to 300 hours of use with the RGB lighting turned off. That's huge for a wireless keyboard and means you can go for a long time without worrying about charging."

"On the software side, it's pretty feature-packed. You get full key remapping, profile customization, macro recording and importing, and complete control over RGB lighting effects—including brightness, speed, color, and sleep timers. You can even create your own custom lighting effects, and firmware updates are handled through the software as well. It's a very complete and flexible package that lets you personalize the keyboard exactly how you want. Honestly, it ticks all of the boxes of a great keyboard with the added bonus of a left-handed numpad"

@HipyoTech REVIEW---This keyboard sounds CREAMY!?

In this short video, @HipyoTech gives his first impressions of the Royal Kludge L98, calling it a “creamy budget keyboard”. And yeah — for a plastic board, it actually feels pretty solid. He points out the hot-swappable knob, which is fun to mess with, and loves the wireless mode, especially with that tiny little screen that shows what mode you’re in. Small touch, but super useful.

The video wraps up with a sound test using linear cream switches — hit play below to check it out!

@Northern Viking Everyday REVIEW---Creamy budget keyboard!

"Using Cherry-profile keycaps that are more durable and resistant to oil. It's not overly loud but there's still some click, kind of a nice balance. It also has a five-layer sound dampening system: two layers of foam, an EXP switch pad, silicone dampener, and a PET sound enhancement film. Overall, it feels pretty smooth when you type."

"The RGB isn’t shine-through, but the lighting is still vibrant and nice, really eye-catching. You can easily adjust brightness, speed, colors, and lighting modes using the function key plus the arrow keys, super straightforward to use."

"With the numpad on the left, you can keep your right hand on the mouse while typing numbers with your left. It's really helpful if you’re right-handed, especially if you work with Excel or spreadsheets. You can just select your cells, put in your numbers, and move on, it reduces a step."

Overall

To wrap things up, the Royal Kludge L98 has wowed reviewers with its unique left-side numpad, vibrant RGB lighting, and smooth typing feel. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly keyboard that packs in a lot of features, the L98 is definitely worth checking out.

honestly numpads belong on the left. Most of us doing data entry need numpad + mouse more than numpad + alphas in a given moment
